Freak Frequency

Description

Formed in Chicago in 2018, Stuck brings together musicians from the local independent scene around a deliberately angular post-punk sound, where rhythmic tension is as important as melodies. With Freak Frequency, the band expands its vocabulary by incorporating keyboards, a nervous saxophone, and tempo changes that constantly shake up the tracks without breaking their momentum. Greg Obis's lyrics tackle the excesses of capitalism, the commodification of everyday life, gentrification, and the grip of social media, while songs like The Punisher, Planet Money, Break The Arc, and Do Not Reply transform this anger into a series of incisive choruses and stubborn rhythms. Behind its apparent nervousness, Freak Frequency moves forward with an almost mechanical precision, with each break or acceleration shifting the track rather than causing it to explode.
