Nr. 2

Description

Ströme's debut album, "Ströme Nr. 2," is a work full of character, wonderfully warm and sensitive, yet also powerful. It is packed with ultra-rare and cult sounds from the Moog IIIp modular synthesizer! Ströme's first album, "Ströme Nr. 2," is a work full of character, wonderfully warm and sensitive, yet also powerful. It is filled with sounds from the ultra-rare and cult Moog IIIp modular synthesizer (for more information about the Moog IIIp, see below and check out the photos inside the double LP), and features other almost balanced analog synthesizers, live or in session, with the Doepfer A100 modular system. The A100 is Ströme's main live equipment. An album that fulfills all your dance needs ("Trang & Flinky" / "Panta Rhei"), allows you to relax with ambient and spatial tracks ("Wasser" / "Niki"), and also offers pop ("Das Modul," "Isolde") along with an extra dose of krautrock songs inspired by the 60s/70s. For the latter, Ströme (Mario Schönhofer and Tobias Weber) made a big hit by collaborating with Nick McCarthy from Franz Ferdinand on "Right Now," "Das Modul," and the beautiful "Stadlberg." Ströme and Nick McCarthy There are a few fun anecdotes about Ströme and their meeting with Nick McCarthy. Nick mentioned that he was looking for old machines. In Germany. He then studied double bass, piano, and composition at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich, joined the krautrock band Embryo during his studies, and played bass for the art school band Kamerakino. He is also a member of Box Codax, Manuela, and The Nix. Nick met Mario and Tobias by chance in his London studio, the Sausage Studio... with the machines... that's all there is to say (more anecdotes in the interviews). Today, Nick is back in Munich where he works in a studio complex with Ströme. His London studio is still active. Ströme has given over 170 concerts since then. The reason is obvious: Ströme is one of the few bands performing live with analog modular synthesizer systems, as well as the Cirklon sequencer, the Emulator 2, and the Mini Moog. Their concerts are energetic, intense, and powerful. Their music falls within the realm of raw analog techno, electro, and synth-pop, while their sound identity recalls and incorporates elements of early krautrock and the synthesized music scene of the late 60s, such as Popul Vuh, Amon Düül, Tangerine Dream, Embryo, Guru Guru, Cluster, Eberhard Schoener, Kraftwerk, and then more experimental analog techno groups from the 90s (Sähkö, Panasonic, Air Liquide, etc.). It was a pleasant surprise for the duo to discover and meet pioneers of electronic music such as Karl Bartos, Florian Schneider, Anne Clark, or Eberhard Schöner during Ströme's concerts.
