When Alex Stephens (aka Strawberry Guy) released his first self-produced single last year, he was simply motivated by a love for writing and composing. What he didn't expect was the million views on YouTube and a passionate fanbase. Now, the native South Wales songwriter, based in Liverpool, is ready to release a whole EP of irresistible, lavishly produced dream pop. Born just outside Cardiff, Strawberry Guy moved to Liverpool to study music and progress as a writer. "I knew it was a very artistic city with a whole creative history. It seemed like the perfect place to settle," he confides. Whether playing keyboards in the band The Orielles or just participating in the growing local music scene, Alex makes music for the love of music, something that deeply reflects his ability to write songs. "I put the first single 'Without You' on Soundcloud without expecting much," he explains, telling us about the journey of that release. "Having a fanbase from that today is surprising and amazing."
