SOS

Description

From Brooklyn, Straw Man Army develops a vision of post-punk where political urgency is expressed as much through the tension of the lyrics as through the economy of means. Composed of Owen Deutsch and Sean Waldron, the duo records its albums on deliberately rudimentary analog equipment, giving their music a raw sound that evokes both early 1980s British punk and dub, krautrock, and experimental rock. With SOS, their third album, Straw Man Army continues this approach through hypnotic compositions where repetitive bass lines, abrasive guitars, and minimalist rhythms accompany a reflection on the social, ecological, and political crises of the contemporary world, without ever sacrificing the melodic strength of their songs.
