Miracle Focus is the eighth album by Strand of Oaks, the band led by Tim Showalter, who has released four albums on Dead Oceans. The idea for Miracle Focus came from a simple concept: to make people feel good. To this, he added a good mix of Ram Dass, yoga, Freddie Mercury, Alice Coltrane, and the Beastie Boys, along with over a year of writing and building the extremely dense architecture of the songs, and Miracle Focus was born. The result is fun, wild, and rhythmic music, filled with layers of synthesizers and mantra-like lyrics intended to uplift and, hopefully, bring a little light to those who listen. In many ways, this record is a love letter to happiness. Tim Showalter is also a painter and actor, appearing in two seasons of the American series Mayans M.C.
