The sound manipulator of NURSE WITH WOUND, Colin Potter, uncovers a remarkable session of DIY industrial curiosities from the archives, produced in 1981 with Steve Parry and long forgotten until a chance encounter in a pub in York, filled with pints and memories, prompted its resurfacing. "Womb" was created for the first time in 1981, at a time when Potter was living north of York, in the hunting grounds of ancient kings, and would begin to create one of the most distinctive catalogs of the British industry/post-punk scene, self-produced through his label ICR, years before joining NURSE WITH WOUND. Together with the avant-garde self-taught classical guitarist Steve Parry, he crafted the restless and strange series of metallic polyrhythms, fractured avant-blues, and underwater noise klangs now titled "Womb," which, in hindsight, bear a resemblance to aspects of Craig Leon's "Nommos" from the same year, or even the distant experiments of John Fahey, as well as the early specters of NWW and Robert Rental – although they were unaware of all this at the time. Classic British electronic experimentation from the 80s, brought back to life.
