Dots & Loops

Description

In the late 1990s, Stereolab pushed their taste for stylistic crossovers even further. Recorded with the collaboration of Sean O'Hagan (The High Llamas), Dots And Loops abandons some of the motorik guitars of their early days in favor of a clever blend of lounge, bossa nova, jazz, orchestral pop, electronic, and Krautrock. Driven by tracks like Miss Modular, The Flower Called Nowhere, Parsec, and the hypnotic Refractions In The Plastic Pulse, the album reveals a band in constant search of new balances, where each arrangement seems to open up an unexpected direction. This Expanded Edition, remastered from the original tapes, adds a disc of unreleased demos, alternative takes, and rare mixes, complemented by notes from Laetitia Sadier and Tim Gane, providing valuable insight into the genesis of one of the group's most inventive recordings.
