Benefiting from exceptional sound quality thanks to the most modern remastering techniques, Label Ouest's reissues of Django Reinhardt's work have established themselves as the most recent major work dedicated to the music of the ingenious Manouche. From this benchmark collection, praised by the press (Choc Jazz Magazine, Must TSF Jazz…), we now offer the quintessence, through a series of four albums, released for the first time on vinyl.
The Reinhardt and Grappelli sessions in Rome in 1949 constitute both the very last recording reunion of the two masters of European jazz and Django's final recorded testimony on acoustic guitar. Accompanied by Italian pianist Gianni Safred's trio, the two artists, at the height of their maturity and complicity, rarely expressed themselves with such brilliance and generosity. Here they offer new interpretations of some of their "classics" (Djangology, Minor Swing, Daphné…), showcase some of their most recent creations (Troublant Boléro, Webster…), while paying superb homage to French chanson (Ménilmontant, La Mer, Où es-tu mon amour?…). Imperious and definitive!
The retrospective of Django Reinhardt's work, released in a series of box sets between 2015 and 2022, has become a benchmark collection praised by the press (Choc Jazz Magazine, Must TSF Jazz...), offering the best of Django with the best sound.
