L'envolée

Description

5 years after the album "Eldorado", here is a long-awaited return for the most French of Swiss singers. An eleventh album, "L'Envolée", which is above all a story of encounters. With Mark Daumail, the sound craftsman of Cocoon, or Fred Avril, author at the dawn of the 21st century of two albums of unclassifiable electro pop. It is together that Stephan and Fred have sketched "Le Sourire", the first single from the album. And then there is "Disparaître", a tearful ballad carried by a moving text, written by Miossec. Stephan Eicher juggles with the instruments with a stunning dexterity, surrounded by new faces (William Tyler from Lambchop, Edith Fambuena, Volker Zander bassist from Calexico, etc.) and old friends (including Martin Wenk from Calexico). The French writer Philippe Djian is still very present in the lyrics and even co-signs the music of one of the album's tracks. In a verse of the song "Disparaître", Stephan Eicher hinted in a confessional tone that "the adventure stops here". It is unsettling. Because, when the last notes of the album fade away, one has rather the persistent impression that it is only (re)starting.
