We know Stephan Eicher's taste for hotels, as he not only stops there during his travels and tours, but it is also in these both mundane and mysterious places that he has recorded some of his most famous albums, including "Engelberg" (1991, Hôtel Hess) and "Carcassonne" (1993, Hôtel de la Cité). In this new release, Stephan pays tribute to his audience by publishing an album that brings together his best tracks: "Hotel*s." The songs on this album were all chosen by his fans via the Internet. In the end, and despite a focus primarily on songs in French, it offers a fairly comprehensive overview of the man's journey, from the bouncy synths of "Chansons bleues" (a re-recorded title for the occasion) to the Celtic winks of "Venez danser," not to mention the rock ambiance of "Des Hauts, des bas" or the orchestral ambitions of "1000 vies."
