"Stefan Pasborg (1974) is a Danish drummer known for his versatility, energetic style, and experimental approach to the instrument, having distinguished himself in jazz, avant-garde, and rock, playing with numerous Danish and international artists. And while Alex Riel held a special place in the hearts of many drummers, for Stefan Pasborg it was more than that, as Riel was his godfather. Music became their gateway to a magical universe of drums, cymbals, gongs, and an ocean of percussive sounds that they explored for 50 years. A few months ago, Pasborg discovered a handwritten list of Alex Riel’s favorite songs. This discovery deeply moved him, and he seized the opportunity to reunite his trio – Carsten Dahl on piano and Fredrik Lundin on tenor saxophone – to record their versions of some of these songs. The goal was to capture the immediacy and spontaneity that characterized Alex Riel’s energy. This album is the result of that intention."
