These are songs by artists captivated by modernity but who had nevertheless not lost sight of the old songs of love, sorrow and travel.///// IMPORTANT, SEE PROMO ON BACK ///// Stand Up, People is the result of the first experiments by Romani musicians with synthesizers and electric guitars, mixed with a growing sense of identification with their ancestral land, India. It includes unreleased songs from the first recordings by the gypsy music stars ŠABAN BAJRAMOVIC and ESMAREDŽEPOVA. It also features other less famous singers, such as Muharem Serbezovski and Medo Cun, whose songs with catchy rhythms reach their peak in improvised solos. Stand Up People highlights Kosovar gypsy music, which has until now been very rarely broadcast. This work reveals a wealth of Eastern sounds that has remained in the shadows for decades. Stand Up, People is the first album to dig so deeply into the corners of Balkan gypsy music, showcasing both tracks performed by the famous artist Nehat Gaši at Kosovar Romani weddings, and titles by unknown artists who released only a single. Stand Up, People, bringing together meticulously restored songs, will also be released on CD and double 180g vinyl. Both formats come with a detailed booklet, featuring photos and exploring the history of these pioneers of gypsy music. Stand Up, People presents, for the first time, a complete English translation of all the songs written in the Romani language.
