A triumph over all adversity: music full of energy and optimism. Did the musicians of Staff Benda Bilili ever think their band would become one of the most important African groups? Hardly. After all, other challenges were foremost for them: Staff Benda Bilili is made up of paraplegic and polio-stricken musicians who once lived as homeless street musicians in downtown Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. But with the release of Très très fort (2009), everything began to change: their first magically grooving album, inspired by old blues, reggae, and funk, became a symbol of resilience... Bouger le Monde also returned to Kinshasa with largely improvised songs. Instruments recorded. The album brings together 11 loud, rocking songs that are always characterized by a likable individuality, yet reveal sophisticated stylistic evolutions. This is probably due in part to the fact that three new members joined the staff of Benda Bilili and brought a breath of fresh air to the band's hypnotic sound.
