Pocket Full Of Kryptonite

Description

Definition of "spin doctor": a spokesperson tasked with presenting a favorable version of events to the media, especially on behalf of a political party. The Spin Doctors were not affiliated with any political party, but advocated love. Formed in New York, the band is best known for their early 1990s hits, "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong." These singles reached number 7 and number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. "Pocket Full of Kryptonite," their debut studio album, was originally released in August 1991. It peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and was their best-selling album, certified 5 times platinum by the RIAA. The album title refers to kryptonite, a fictional substance from Superman comics. The title is taken from the album's first track, "Jimmy Olsen's Blues," a reference to Jimmy Olsen, a supporting character in the Superman universe, who is attracted to Lois Lane and jealous of her feelings for Superman. The cover art depicts a phone booth, referencing Clark Kent's frequent escapes into a booth to don his Superman costume. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Pocket Full Of Kryptonite, Spin Doctors will go on tour in 2026. This limited anniversary edition, limited to 4,000 individually numbered copies, is pressed on translucent green vinyl. The cover features a luxurious leather-like laminated finish. An insert is included.
