With a mission in mind, SPEED is committed to spreading Australian hardcore. Formed in 2019, the Sydney band takes an uncompromising approach and a captivating sound that sets them apart from the genre. Comprised of vocalist Jem, bassist Aaron, guitarists Josh and Dennis, and drummer Kane, SPEED puts on a tough exterior but fully expresses its identity and community spirit in everything it does. After releasing their demo in 2019, the band teamed up with American label Flatspot Records for a two-track EP in 2020, and they joined forces again for Gang Called Speed. Recorded with Elliott Gallart at Chameleon Studios, the EP's six tracks revolve around self-recognition, owning that identity, and rejecting all authority. Drawing inspiration as much from old-school bands like Biohazard and Merauder as from groups like Trapped Under Ice, the band delivers ready-to-use music that surprises given the few shows they've been able to play since forming.
