A new Soul Jazz compilation dedicated to Jamaican reggae on 2 coloured LPs! Studio Roots Vol. 2 delves into the vaults of the legendary Jamaican reggae label, featuring rare and classic roots tracks, as well as seven previously unreleased tracks that have never seen the light of day. Roots and Rastafari music was recorded at Studio One by Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd from the early 1960s to the 1990s, and this album reflects the depth and diversity of the label's roots music. From Dudley Sibbley's slow-ska to Cedric Im Brooks' deep instrumental jazz pieces over classic roots rhythms like "Satta Massagana", to Winston Mathews' astonishing, eerie version of Bob Marley and the Wailers' "Sun Is Shining". The Zion All Stars feature Count Ossie's Burro Rastafari drums and the mystical revelation of Rastafari. This album features many classic Studio One artists - Willie Williams, Tommy McCook, Cedric Brooks, The Gladiators, Vin Gordon - as well as many lesser-known artists, all of whom produced classic roots music under the direction of producer Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd and recorded at the legendary Studio One Records premises.
