Sopa Boba is a Belgian-Dutch project blending electronic music and neo-classical elements. Designed as a contemporary oratorio, it develops a dramatic narrative set within a sociopolitical framework. The composition combines a neo-classical string quartet, abrasive modular synthesizers, and spoken voices. The project brings together Pavel Tchikov (Ogives) and G.W. Sok (The Ex, Oiseaux-Tempête). The album That Moment is an adaptation of the eponymous text by Moldovan writer Nicola Esinencu. Its starting point is a real event that occurred in Moldova: a father, as punishment, chops off his son's finger with an axe after the latter steals some money from him. From this brutal scene, the author intertwines narrative and reality with caustic irony, questioning an unbridled capitalist society where everything – and everyone – seems to be for sale. With a total duration of 55 minutes, That Moment oscillates between hybrid electronic and neo-classical oratorio, and concept album. Its seven tracks, designed as chapters, form an ironic and satirical fresco on the downward spiral of capitalism.
