J’Accuse Ted Hughes

Description

40-minute album of experimental music from the legends of New York. Includes a live version of a song from the album NYC Ghosts & Flowers and a studio track from 2003, both previously unreleased. Musical contributions from Jim O'Rourke, who also mixed the B-side. The seventh installment of Sonic Youth's SYR document series further reveals their fields of improvisation and composition. After a long exploration of their relationship with 20th-century classical music, the band took advantage of this millennial crossroads in 2000 to participate in the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in the UK, at the invitation of Mogwai. Besides being their last concert as a quartet until 2006, it is a truly unique set that not only features instrumental glimpses of the upcoming album NYC Ghosts And Flowers but also includes a 20-minute group interpretation of a solo composition that Thurston had performed at the Cooler, a now-closed and beloved concert venue in New York.
