Son House (1902-1988) was one of the initial pioneers and most important exponents of the Mississippi Delta Blues. Developing a percussive slide guitar technique, characterized by strong rhythmic repetitions and a vocal style reflecting Southern spiritual and gospel singers, House was a crucial innovator who exerted a profound influence on countless other bluesmen. Most of the tracks on the album Death Letter Blues, presented here, come from two emblematic sessions recorded by Son House in 1941 and 1942.
