Untried Ways

Untried Ways, the second album by Solaris Great Confusion, reflects the desire to record with the team of musicians and friends who accompanied Stephan Nieser (the project's leader) on stage for nearly two years during the tour for the previous album: Elise Humbert on cello, Yves Béraud on accordion, Aurel Troesch on guitars, Jérôme Spieldenner on drums, Foes Von Ameisedorf on bass, and Jacques Speyser on vocals. The extension of the live experience allowed for the exploration of new sonic territories, all within a fluid and fairly quick creative process. As a result, the nine tracks that make up the album act as a true photographic developer. The album seems to speak more to the brain than to the gut, but the very acoustic tone, certainly folk, yet also textured by the harmonies of cello and accordion, gives the tracks a unique personality. They emerge in a nearly vibrational way, through moments of tension and release, like little treasures that are rediscovered with each listen.
