Description

With Heat, Société Étrange extends its work around repetition, groove, and cyclical structures, developing instrumental music that is both hypnotic and enveloping. Without breaks or radical changes in direction, the Lyon trio slightly shifts its writing towards more melodic and cinematic forms, revealing warmer, more textured, and sometimes brighter atmospheres. Formed by Antoine Bellini (electronics), Romain Hervault (bass), and Jonathan Grandcollot (drums), Société Étrange creates a more diffuse trance here, driven by generally slower tempos than on Chance. The organic drums constantly interact with the drum machines and layers of synthesizers, while the bass provides both the pulse and the outline of the melodic lines. The whole allows motifs, timbres, and silences to breathe more, establishing a less frontal music, conceived as a space for immersion. Through Heat, the group explores a form of strange instrumental pop, without formats or choruses, nourished by an imaginary of soundtracks and narrative electronic music. A warm and hypnotic music, where repetition becomes material, tension transforms into texture, and where each piece seems to construct a complete sound landscape.
