THE REVIVAL OF CELTIC ROCK
Skerryvore has reinvented and revitalized Scottish music by offering a subtle blend of Celtic music and modern alternative pop. The Scottish band transcended their country's borders in 2021 with their hit "You & I." This track reached the top of the BBC Radio 2 playlist, with enormous support from Jeremy Vine, the famous radio host.
"Tempus" is an epic album full of melody, intimate and rooted in Scotland's origins, yet exploding into a highly diverse musical palette. The band successfully captured the spirit of communion they infuse into their concerts within this album.
Skerryvore consists of eight musicians: founders Daniel Gillespie (accordion), his brother Martin (bagpipes), Alec Dalglish (vocals, guitar), and Fraser West (drums), alongside Scott Wood (bagpipes, whistles), Craig Espie (fiddle), Jodie Bremaneson (bass), and Alan Scobie (piano, keyboards).
Almost everything they have released to date – six studio albums, a live album, and a "best of" celebrating their first decade together – has been done entirely independently. 'Tempus' also represents a new beginning for the band with this first album for the Cooking Vinyl label, which will mark a new chapter in Skerryvore's evolution.
