Holy Island/Blue Vinyl

Description

The duo formed by Adam Morrow and Jamie Sego may be based in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, known as the world capital of recording, but they have created a conceptual album centered around an ancient religious outpost off the northeast coast of England. It’s a striking record that blends distorted guitars, haunting folk, and enchanting melodies — for fans of Ride, Slowdive, Galaxie 500, Talk Talk, Yo La Tengo, and The Clientele. Although its lyrical inspiration is thousands of miles away, the album is infused with the warmth and soul of their surroundings — especially since it was recorded in the former Muscle Shoals Sound studio, on the banks of the Tennessee River, now renamed Portside Sound, run by Jamie. “The story of Lindisfarne provided us with a framework to express ideas and emotions that are otherwise very abstract,” explains Adam.
