Since his very first album in 2009, Sudanese-American AHMED GALLAB and his band SINKANE have always strived to blend genres and ignore boundaries, drawing influences from US Soul, psychedelic music, and of course, African music. From CURTIS MAYFIELD to FUNKADELIC, passing through Sudanese jazz, AHMED GALLAB confirms with Dépaysé (in French in the text) that he is indeed one of the most talented and versatile musicians of his generation. Earning the respect of African music legends like MULATU ASTATKE (who invited him on stage) and WILLIAM ONYEABOR (he conducted tribute concerts to the Nigerian artist), as well as jazz musicians (PHAROAH SANDERS) and Western bands (CARIBOU, DAMON ALBARN, HOT CHIP, etc.).
