Description

Legendary drummer Simon Phillips is world-renowned for his collaborations with Toto, The Who, Jeff Beck, Hiromi, Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke, and his own band, Protocol. Simon continues his evolution as a composer on the promising new Protocol 6 album. As he confides: "The tracks are actually quite different from Protocol V. With the band now in its sixth year, I was able to compose specifically for each musician. It's my rock 'n' roll side that influences the shape of each track, even if the style is decidedly jazz-rock. I like to call it progressive jazz." The lineup of this seasoned band remains unchanged, except for Phillip Whack, who now holds the position of saxophonist, playing tenor, alto, and soprano with great mastery.
