Coyote Butterfly

Description

Simon Joyner returns with Coyote Butterfly, his first album of new songs in two years, following the tragic overdose of his son Owen in August 2022. This deeply personal and intimate album is a tribute to Owen, where Joyner explores his grief through raw confessions and imagined dialogues. The album addresses themes such as loss, love, regret, and healing, making this record his most vulnerable work to date. Coyote Butterfly is not only an outlet for sorrow, but also a reflection on the path toward healing. Songs like “There Will Be A Time” offer a glimpse of hope and the possibility of future understanding. By collaborating with close friends like David Nance and Michael Krassner, Joyner creates a soundscape that is both minimalist and emotionally rich. This album is a powerful reminder of art’s ability to transform personal tragedy into universal beauty, inviting listeners to share in his grief and find comfort in the enduring strength of love.
