Pee Wee is the third release from the Jojo Records label. This time, Simon Belelty takes on the role of guitarist and leader of a sextet, surrounded by close collaborators, as the pianist is none other than Kirk Lightsey and the saxophonist is Asaf Yuria. We must also mention the excellent trumpeter Josh Evans (who also appeared on Asaf Yuria's Exorcisms), as well as bassists Gilles Naturel (on six tracks) and Darryl Hall (on two tracks). The drums are handled by Jason Brown, partnered with Gilles Naturel, and by John Betsch, partnered with Darryl Hall. The idea of forming a sextet was obvious because Simon Belelty loves the Jazz Messengers and all the great hard-bop quintets so much that he simply formed a classic quintet and added his guitar!
