Description

Formed under the impetus of Reuben M. Koroma and Francis John Langba "Franco", SIERRA LEONE'S REFUGEE ALL STARS is a group made up of musicians who found themselves in a refugee camp in Guinea during the civil war. They meet Canadian singer-songwriter Chris Velan as well as American filmmakers Banker White and Zach Niles who will make the documentary film "Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars" dedicated to the group and which will be awarded multiple accolades upon its release in 2006. Their music blends various styles such as traditional maringa, reggae, afro-beat, hip hop, folk, pop, and jazz-rock supporting messages of love, hope, unity, and peace. Rise & Shine, the group's second album, was recorded between Freetown (Sierra Leone) and New Orleans (Louisiana), produced by Steve Berlin (LOS LOBOS, RICKIE LEE JONES, JACKIE GREENE, ...).
