Description

Sharp Pins is the lo-fi pop project of Kai Slater, a Chicago musician known for Lifeguard and Dwaal Troupe. This recording is the soundtrack of his 18 years cruising the streets on a Taotao 50cc Chinese scooter and four-tracking his Sta-Prest-Dreams. A handful of songs that had never really been recorded thoughtfully, captured on a Tascam Porta One in the old concrete Stülo Gulo of Chicago with an imaginary group of Men in Green Striped Pants. The original garagepopspew sound of Sharp Pins in all its crunchiness and squeaks, dubbed by hand in about 50 copies. Recorded and mixed by Kai Slater, mastered by Amy Dragon. Originally released on Hallogallo cassette in a home press.
