On the outskirts of Manchester's ever-changing center, Shaking Hand shapes its universe in an old red brick mill threatened by new urban projects. This trio draws from original post-rock and 90s US alternative rock to create a sound that blends Northwest emo with contemporary nostalgia. Their music plays with tension and release, alternating between stretched silences, sonic explosions, and hypnotic repetitions. Influenced by Slint, Sonic Youth, and Pavement, they combine experimentation with melodic sensibility. Born during the lockdown and developed in rehearsal, the tracks capture the raw atmosphere of their environment. The album, recorded with David Pye in Leeds, favors live takes to preserve the onstage energy. The lyrics oscillate between abstraction and fragments of life, exploring contrasts and urban mutations. Driven by a 70s-inspired architectural aesthetic, this debut album stands out as a solid and enduring work.
