With his new album "Nouveaux Dinosaures," Séverin reconnects with the softness of his voice and his sharp gaze that already characterized him on the album "Ça ira tu verras."
No one but Séverin knew the songs beforehand, to avoid spoiling what was meant to resemble a game. There was Ambroise Willaume, aka Sage (Clara Luciani), and his guitars suspended like garlands, a Brazilian Cavaquinho as support. His former partner from Revolver, Jérémie Arcache (Barbara Pravi, Pierre Guénard…), on keyboards, the Panamanian Michelle Blades (Pomme, Gaétan Nonchalant…) on bass, Alex Montembault (the revelation of the new version of Starmania) and his surreal voice in a duet on the track "Silence."
As for Séverin, who plays just about everything, he refrains here from holding any instrument to focus on singing, or rather, the songs. Because while one can easily spot, in the twists of the tracks, the imprint left on Séverin by several friendly French artists, the Chédid, Voulzy, Vassiliu, or Moustaki, it is indeed this pop imbued with folk harmonies, coming from North America, that one ultimately thinks of.
It took at least this, this lovely ceremony without excessive ornaments, to dress these texts of high emotional quality, crafted down to the last syllable like jewels, which tell the intimate without heaviness but without false pretenses, and place Séverin, finally, at the level of the masters of words who have cradled him.
