Pioneers of industrial music in Australia - although founder Tom Ellard is reluctant to wear this label - Severed Heads has shaped the sound of the underground scene on the continent with its "kitchen electronics" approach, chaotic tape loops, and catchy melodies reminiscent of nursery rhymes. *Cuisine (With Piscatorial)*, the ninth album of this long-running project, aims to comment on the state of music. Ellard explains: "All this food-related joke actually refers to the very nature of music and its disposable character; people consume records like they drink cups of coffee." The album also marks a break from the "dancefloor" formalism of the time, a style that Ellard felt had been sufficiently explored. *Cuisine* delivers punchy pop gems, typical of the group's heyday, all around three minutes long. Tracks like "Pilot in Hell" and "Ugly Twenties" are among the group's best achievements, thanks to their formidable way of subverting the codes of synth-pop. But the album also features a "Piscatorial" section, where Ellard allowed himself to "fish for ideas." Here we discover the crazy sound collage approach ("cut-up") dear to the project, particularly on the suite "Quest for Oom Pa Pa," where period jazz records are assembled to create a nightmare of angular sounds. This double vinyl reissue marks the first appearance of *Cuisine (With Piscatorial)* on this format and includes an unreleased version, dating from the group's early days, of the track "Seven of Oceans." It also comes with a 6-page booklet containing explanatory notes, lyrics, and press clippings.
