Singer, producer, composer, and an incredible artist, SEVEN DAVIS JR grew up in Northern California where he trained as a gospel and jazz singer, influenced by vocal artists such as Prince, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Michael Jackson. Soon after, he discovered the underground music scene of San Francisco, which changed his life and compositions forever. Universes is his most honest and sincere musical statement to date. Recorded in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Amsterdam, and London, it is a unique exploration of the producer and his musical landscape, traversing tempos and styles with typical panache, but always inspired by his soul and funk foundations. SEVEN DAVIS JR brings a melancholic energy similar to that of Moodymann or Theo Parrish. "Sunday Morning" picks up where "Wild Hearts" left off, with unrestrained drums and bass tinged with guitar riffs. There are more introspective moments on the album, such as "Fighters" and "Afterlife" (feat. Kutmah), which are darker and more downtempo. He refers to them as "ballads."
