This compilation pays tribute to GAINSBOURG's jazz period. In the 1950s, he was the only one, after BORIS VIAN, to incorporate jazz into his songs. Thus, we find tracks from his first album, Du Chant à la Lune (1958), tracks from N°2, three live recordings at Les Trois Baudets (1958), and excerpts from the soundtrack of L'Eau à la Bouche.
