Screaming Trees is an American rock band from Ellensburg, Washington. Related to the grunge movement, their sound was a blend of 1960s psychedelic rock and 1970s hard rock. Although highly regarded by critics, they never achieved the popularity of other grunge bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, or Pearl Jam. They disbanded in 2000, four years after the release of their last album, Dust. Barrett Martin replaced former drummer Pickerel, and the new lineup recorded Sweet Oblivion in 1992. With Martin's arrival, the band completed the song Nearly Lost You, which became a hit. Sweet Oblivion became the band's quintessential album, featuring the singles Nearly Lost You, Dollar Bill, and Shadow of the Season. The first two singles gained significant airplay on alternative rock radio stations, and the video for Nearly Lost You became a hit on MTV in late 1992, thanks to its inclusion in the film Singles. Nearly Lost You reached number 5 on the Modern Rock Tracks and number 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Sweet Oblivion sold over 300,000 copies in the United States. The band was formed in 1985 by MARK LANEGAN. This is their 6th album released in 1992, and second to last. Limited remastered edition including a bonus CD with 6 unreleased tracks.
