Scott Walker + Sunn O)))
Soused
When the band Sunn O))) contacted Scott Walker in 2009 to collaborate on their album Monoliths & Dimensions, they had no idea it would lead to a more substantial project. Five years later, the joint project between experimental musician Scott Walker and American drone band Sunn O))), Soused, is released.
At 71 years old and with a career spanning over five decades, Scott Walker has lost none of his experimental verve, constantly seeking to deconstruct his music, eradicating all traces of pop from his creations. After his album Bish Bosch, released in 2012, he returns accompanied by the priests of drone metal, Sunn O))).
Scott Walker had declined the band's collaboration offer in 2009 to focus on writing his album Soused, which he ultimately wrote with the band in mind... Sunn O))) is a true reference for drone metal fans; they use extremely heavy sounds, with distorted guitars often accompanied by feedback. Mainly composed of Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, Sunn O))) therefore works on this magnetic vibration of metal called drone, but since their recent collaboration with the Norwegians of Ulver, the band had not released an album since Monoliths & Dimensions, released in 2009 and acclaimed by the press.
This unprecedented collaboration is therefore the meeting of two of the roughest worlds, structured like a modern opera in five acts, using instruments to create sonic pillars and effects.
