Singer-songwriter Scott Fagan's 1968 debut album, which was rumored to be bigger than Elvis, will be released on February 9, 2024, on Earth Recordings. *South Atlantic Blues* will be re-released for the first time in its original sleeve, with an iconic portrait of Fagan by renowned rock photographer Joel Brodsky. "Listening to the heartbreaking timbre of Scott Fagan on *South Atlantic Blues*, his debut album released in 1968, one senses that the young man had an intuition of the impending failure. Yet everything had started well. Arriving fresh from the Virgin Islands in New York in 1964, he was taken under the wing of the famous composer and producer Doc Pomus. A signing on the Beatles' label, Apple, came to nothing, and it was on a less prestigious label, Atco, that he would record the poignant *South Atlantic Blues*. A folk-pop manifesto infused with subtle Caribbean influences in which the 23-year-old painted a desperate picture of the Virgin Islands, where alcoholism and poverty darkened the blue sky and calm sea of postcards. The album landed straight in the bargain bins, only to re-emerge forty-seven years later, saved from oblivion by the micro-label Lil'Fish."
