WONDER WHERE WE LAND

Description

SBTRKT Does English producer SBTRKT, creator of the unstoppable "Wildfire", still need an introduction? In the space of a few remixes (M.I.A., Basement Jaxx, Mark Ronson,…) and a self-titled album, SBTRKT quickly established himself as one of the key figures on the English electronic scene. The famous producer crafts a graphical and sonic persona hidden behind a tribal mask, and elevated post-dubstep to nobility by adding an irresistible groove. His stripped-down debut album left a lasting impression and took him around the world. After a two-year hiatus and a series of EPs, SBTRKT finally released his new album "Wonder Where We Land", on which he fully embraces his various influences. In addition to the first two singles, "Temporary View" performed by his accomplice Sampha, and "New Dorp New York" featuring Ezra Koenig, which carry the DNA of SBTRKT's productions, the album often veers towards hip-hop with "Voices In My Head", "Higher", or pop on "The Light" or "Problem Solved". Even if he sometimes abandons his classic and effective pattern of big productions, "Wonder Where We Land" is resolutely the logical continuation of SBTRKT. Also noteworthy is the presence of Jessie Ware, Caroline Polachek (Chairlift), Warpaint, Denai Moore, and A$AP Ferg on this album of perfectly polished compositions where electronic sounds combine as well as ever with pop gimmicks.
