UNPLUGGED AND STRUNG UP

Description

For as long as this British heavy metal legend has been sending us these “metal storms,” it was hard to believe that SAXON would one day release an album with these orchestral, rearranged, and acoustic versions. Yet today, this “Unplugged and Strung Up” reveals the hidden face of the “beast” and shows us an adventurous band revisiting part of its immense catalog with great class. Biff and his men therefore approach certain tracks in a very different way. Heavy metal anthems such as “Crusader,” “The Eagle Has Landed,” or even “Broken heroes” have been intelligently rearranged, while “Forever Free” and “Just Let Me Rock” have been completely re-recorded, or “Stallions of the Highway” has simply been remixed for the occasion. These “Orchestral versions” therefore sit alongside totally acoustic versions of “Frozen Rainbow” or “Requiem,” with a few unreleased tracks thrown in as well. At this level, the blacksmiths become goldsmiths.
