"Solid Ball of Rock" is the tenth studio album by legendary heavy metal band Saxon, originally released in 1991. Five of its eleven tracks were written by new bassist Nibbs Carter, who also co-wrote three other songs. The arrival of young bassist Nibbs Carter seemed to inject new energy into the band, which delivered some of its most aggressive material in years, including the raging thrash of "Altar of the Gods" and the thunderous "Baptist of Fire." "For our audience — because without an audience, there is no band — we refocused on Solid Ball of Rock...," said singer Biff Byford. "We've been working on it ever since."
