Earth Infernal is a pure product of the era that birthed it and can only be the work of SATAN. After producing avant-garde heavy metal throughout the 80s - and reforming in 2011 - their sixth full album maintains the high standard they established long ago, and it may be their most current album. Guitarist Russ Tippins: "Our Earth is now infernally hot. Almost irreversibly. We are on a one-way trip to hell and we are dragging our children and their children with us." As always, the band recorded the album at First Avenue in Newcastle, with Dave Curle handling engineering and mixing. At a time when metal records are overly polished and perfected digitally, Satan takes a different path and embraces the mistakes made during the recording. "The out-of-tune note, the missed beat of a drum roll, the powerful chord that isn't fully struck. All of this adds up to create an engaging sound. It's true. It seems that everyone can achieve perfection now, but precisely for that reason, perfection no longer really means anything."
