Satan, the legendary Newcastle band formed in 1980, is back in force in 2024 with their seventh studio album, "Songs in Crimson." After a 20-year hiatus, the band reformed in 2011 and has been consistently outdoing themselves ever since. Their new album, produced by Metal Blade, follows the intense "Earth Infernal" from 2022, but stands out with a more concise and impactful approach. Guitarist Russ Tippins describes "Songs in Crimson" as very song-oriented with catchy choruses. One particular track, "Era (The Day Will Come)," addresses loss and reminds us not to take anything for granted. The band's chemistry, the result of decades of collaboration and friendship, remains unshakeable. "We didn't get back together to exploit past glory," says Tippins: if you're looking for nostalgia, move along. Satan is here to write new legends.
