The renowned Swedish artist Sarah Klang embarks on an expansive exploration of femininity in all its complicated beauty on her album Beautiful Woman. Throughout her career, Klang has been a DIY artist, recording at home in Sweden. Beautiful Woman marks a bold change in direction for the musician, who traveled to Los Angeles for the first time to record the album with Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, Bonny Light Horseman). The experience also saw Klang transition— for the first time— to a live studio recording style with an extraordinary team of handpicked musicians for their roles, including; Josh Adams on drums (Cat Power, Beck, Wild Nothing), Josh Mease on bass (The Weeknd, Fruit Bats), and live mixing by Jarvis Taveniere (Avalanches, Whitney, King Gizzard). The album is mastered by Heba Kabry, the mastermind behind the foundational recordings of Big Thief, Björk, Future Islands, Mdou Moctar, Cat Le Bon, Animal Collective, and many more. Klang has always had a talent for writing autobiographical songs, as seen on her acclaimed debut album Love in The Milky Way (2018), which won the award for Best Album at the Swedish Grammis Awards. This continued with Creamy Blue (2019), her second album that received another nomination for "Best Album" and "Best Alternative Pop" at the Grammis Awards, as well as another nomination for "European Album of the Year" at the IMPALA Awards. While her sound had already touched on a mix of influences (60s and 70s pop, Americana, an underlying current of country), the acclaimed 2021 album, VIRGO, expanded her scope to include elements of 80s synth-pop (winning another Grammis for "Best Alternative Pop"). Mercedes from 2023 earned Sarah another Grammis nomination for "Best Pop Album of the Year" and received praise from Under the Radar, Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, The Sunday Times, Atwood, Noctis, The LUNA Collective, and many others.
