Description

What strikes the first ear thrown into the fray of the shared games of Samuel Blaser and Marc Ducret is the fluidity. They quickly recognize each other, as if the sonic spectrum that is woven here little by little were coming back from a distant land already explored, from common territories whose memory suddenly resurfaces. This fabric, which thickens as one moves through the very textured stretches of this music in immediate construction, speaks of the dangers encountered, the pitfalls avoided of reassuring comfort and, beyond that, tells us the story of a meeting, of an adventure already long underway, which speaks of the soothing but complex beauty of a musical and human journey carried out side by side and which feels like a shared common flesh. Sometimes, the subterranean hum, the pulse of life that guides us throughout the listening in order to better rest, without settling, decides on passing respites. Then the sonic rain falls again, lashes the closed shutters of imaginary shelters. The continuum resumes its march, the dialogue continues on its way and it is the joint song of the two protagonists that captivates. It talks, it jostles, it tells its story from below, it flies far above the “you” or the “me,” it willingly “unisons” to support the reach of the song, then it moves away as if to find itself again more fully. Now, one must gently slip toward the end and let oneself go into the heart of the sound whose texture grows denser still. To close, it is like a slow song that then tells itself; dark and luminous at once, the clearing appears.
