Sortie 21

Description

Habited and instinctive, Sammy Decoster has been quietly riding his career since the late 2000s, carving out his niche in folk songs. From a recent road trip in the desert, the wandering crooner brought back a suitcase full of songs and this long-awaited second album, recorded live with members of Giant Sand from Arizona's Howe Gelb and passing friends. There is something beautifully old-fashioned about these songs captured on magnetic tape, but our hero cherishes the retro codes enough to break free from them intelligently and surprise us during wild gallops. Between languorous ballads and rock & roll swerves, Sortie 21 gives us a fierce desire to lovingly conquer wild territories.
