Delone

Description

Led by Italian composer and producer Antonio Gramentieri, the Sacri Cuori project returns after three primarily instrumental albums. With collaborations featuring Robyn Hitchcock and PJ Harvey, the Italian musician releases a new album set in quartz. Performed by Carla Lippi, "Delone" exudes coolness in the shadow of a dreamlike Monument Valley. The haunting ballad evokes a Nancy Sinatra accustomed to Ennio Morricone's scores. Cinema fully inhabits this production. Also a composer of soundtracks, Antonio Gramentieri distinguished himself last year with Zoran at the Venice Film Festival. An obvious universe is present in the captivating "Seuls Ensemble," "Snake Charmer," or "Serge." Surrounded by pianist Evan Lurie from the Lounge Lizards (another regular on the scene) and the brilliant Marc Ribot (on break from Tom Waits), Sacri Cuori shifts into high gear with "Bendigo" and "La Marabina," featuring irresistible surf arrangements. Meanwhile, "Una Danza" offers jazz a hint of dolce vita. Yet it is the slow tempos that truly generate enthusiasm. "Portame Via," "Dancing (On The Other Side Of Town)," and "Cagliostro Blues" play with atmospheres. A freedom of tone that pleases the Glitterbeat label!
