Sacred Paws are almost instantly infectious, like a hum of energy that blends African highlife rhythms with nervy guitar riffs, all topped off with overlapping, almost sighing vocals. The Glasgow duo – Rachel Aggs (also of Trash Kit and Shopping) on guitar, Eilidh Rodgers on drums – formed while they were both members of noise-pop band Golden Grrrls.Easily and quickly finding their own identity, Sacred Paws became one of Glasgow’s cult figures. The raw sound of their music gives it a certain charm and allows it to assert itself, while the post-punk, polyrhythmic approach of the percussion transports us into funky and acidic spheres.Everyday is their second EP and is released on Rock Action, a label founded by the Scottish band Mogwai.
