Ry Cooder has just announced the release of the album 'The Prodigal Son' expected on May 11 on Fantasy Records. An album that the guitarist describes as a musical representation of modern America through three original tracks composed with his son Joachim Cooder and reinterpretations of traditional songs by the Pilgrim Travellers, the Stanley Brothers, Blind Willie Johnson, William L. Dawson... The multi-instrumentalist and master of slide guitar will have waited six years before releasing the successor to 'Election Special', during which time fans had to make do with the production of the tribute to bassist Charlie Haden The Haden Triplets (2014) and the composition of the original soundtrack for the film 'Revenger (The Assignment)' by Walter Hill.
