Description

Épure is the musical meeting between R.Wan and Éric Allard-Jacquin. Erwan Séguillon, known as R.Wan, is the singer of the group Java and co-leader of the group Soviet Suprem. He has been touring solo or with his various projects around the world for over 25 years. Born in Grenoble, Éric Allard-Jacquin is a musician, accordionist, and composer trained at the National and International Center for Music and Accordion (CNIMA) and then at the Didier Lockwood Music Center (CMDL). He can be found alongside Sanseverino, in Le Bal Jacquin, Les Yeux de la Tête, Accordzéâm, or Les Frivolités Parisiennes. One voice, one accordion, a breath, a whisper... Here, no machines, no crutches, but a quest for the senses where all artifices shine by their absence. The song "Des Ronds" illustrates the work of the painter Julie Milou, who illustrated the album cover. In this mirror play, pictorial and musical techniques are identical: turning around oneself like a dervish, endlessly repeating the same circular gesture, to reach a form of trance in creation. "Délicat" is a love song that draws a parallel between the delicacy of romantic feelings and the virtuosity of the accordion, highlighting the precision of execution and the subtlety of the instrument's touch. "Il n'y a pas d'amour heureux" was written by the French poet and novelist Louis Aragon in 1943 and set to music ten years later by the singer, songwriter, and poet Georges Brassens. While this cover remains faithful to the original text, the melody and interpretation differ significantly: the voice is higher, more inhabited, and more fragile, giving this melancholic and moving title a new resonance. The duo perpetuates the tradition of French song while infusing it with a touch of modernity. Épure is a naive album. Stripped bare, the nerve laid bare. Clear tunes to remind us in the age of screens that only the living feel emotion and that it is the essence of every song.
