Brain Worms

Description

RVG announce their new album, ‘Brain Worms’, set for release on June 2nd via Fire Records. Throughout the album, RVG’s immense form shines through. Named after the experience where each new day testifies to a world that keeps accumulating obsessions, ‘Brain Worms’ may not be entirely new territory for the Melbourne post-punk outfit and their lyricist/frontwoman Romy Vager. But this time around, there's a new, more radical approach, like an aura glowing above the album. On ‘Brain Worms’, band members Reuben Bloxham (guitar), Marc Nolte (drums), and Isabele Wallace (bass) perfectly complement Vager and bring her lyrics to life. Recorded in London at Snap Studios with James Trevascus (Billy Nomates, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, The Goon Sax), the ten tracks on ‘Brain Worms’ are overflowing with lush sounds and clear intentions. The magic of an acoustic guitar that once belonged to Kate Bush, gifted by Tears for Fears (who, according to legend, wrote "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" on this very guitar) can be heard throughout the album. After five critically acclaimed formative years, with their debut album ‘A Quality of Mercy’ in 2017 making countless end-of-year lists and playing alongside some of the world's biggest artists, RVG released their second album ‘Feral’ as the world went into lockdown in 2020. ‘Feral’ was hailed by Rolling Stone Australia as "the record of a lifetime," but for the four members of the band, ‘Brain Worms’ is the most accomplished album they've ever made. They have moved beyond their influences, surpassed themselves, and tried new things. The result? A record they can, in every sense, call their best.
